Jean Rene brought her artistic skills to Alaska in 1973. She became totally captivated by Alaska's interior and Copper River Valley where she and her husband Bob, and their four children, settled. Jean learned to fly. She mushed her own dog team. During many unusual and exciting adventures her artistic spirit made a lasting bond with the Wrangell Mountains, the Copper River Delta, and Alaskan people. Through oils and now transparent wonder of watercolor, she explores the Alaskan world she has become so much a part of. Her beautiful and sensitive images brought to life by wandering and sketching in remote and many "almost inaccessible" places, bring to the viewer a sense of intrigue and closeness with Alaska's colorful and oft times mysterious past. Much of her work is a product of her own personal experience and adventure in the Alaskan outdoors.
